Gigi The Inspiring Tall Woman Traveler

My gosh, I found inspiration in the beautiful spirit of a tall woman in Amy "Gigi" Frank's blog "true life planet".
Gigi is an American tall woman from Winters, CA who is on the journey of a lifetime. She is on a one woman excursion around the world backpacking and volunteering. Like a nomad struck with wanderlust, she sold off all her earthly possessions and hit the road.
Everything, from the detailed planning for her trip to her carefree spiritual journey on the Camino de Santiago in Spain, shows the wonderful duality of a life worth living.
Gigi shines with a wonderful spirit of equality and generosity no matter where she goes or who she encounters. She writes wonderful prose about all her experiences in her blog. Her character shines through, as does the character of others.
Gigi writes, "Elky was the most special child to me while I lived in La Esperanza, and her spirit simply glowed, she was so happy I had come to say goodbye. While I live there, she visited me everyday-and she helped me around the house a lot as well. In return, I bought her some clothes for school, and fed her breakfast. We have a deep strong attachment, based on our common characteristic of generosity-rarely have I seen a person., child or otherwise, who is so giving, and without complaint or jealousy towards those that have more than she. I think she will inspire me for years to come."
A wonderful example of her respect for innocence, generosity, and fairness.
You would think being a tall woman would ward off men's advances, but this has not been Gigi's experience at all. In fact, many short men on her journey seem to have some fantasy about tall women. Gigi calls these men Don Juan's, and rightly so.
The Don Juan's on Gigi's journey are many and she handles them with prudence.
Gigi writes, "I always would say that I was on the Camino for spiritual reasons, which was true-but this rarely stopped them from trying to squeeze one's body parts. If anything, they took it as a challenge to up their romantic advances."
Or she would try, "Telling them I had a boyfriend made no difference, either. They took this to mean it was possible to have some sort of temporary relationship with no strings attached. If anything, I think it made me more attractive."
Then she moved on to fundamental psychology, "Several Brazilian women told me the best course of action was to never look them in the eye, and to continuously talk about God, this actually worked quite well, most of the time.!"
Gigi describes one experience like this, "He stopped me in the street and invited me for lunch-he had all the fixings for a lovely meal, including wine and some little sweet cakes. I turned him down, and with a grand gesture, he kissed my hand, and said 'On the outside, I am a little man. But on the inside- I have big love for you.'"
Gigi calmly gathered all her things, turned the other way, and headed out on the road...
It takes a lot of strength and courage to take the world on alone, and Amy "Gigi" Frank is one tall woman who should be an inspiration to us all.
