How To Love Being Tall

Let's Talk about How To Love Being Tall...

How to love being tall? "Move on"... I wish I would have been told that. Move On. Simple right? No, it's not so simple.

It means consciously letting go of the "hang up" or "problem" and taking on the challenges that will help you gain confidence, self respect and most importantly: accomplishment.

It means concentrating on, and doing the things, that you can do, and leaving the things that you have no control over behind.

You can't change height. It's as simple as that. So learn to love the positive aspects of it. Realize that you have been blessed and the only thing holding you back is your attitude about it.

Block out the world of "comments" about height around you, learn to take them with a grain of salt.

If you can't do that.... well, think about and put your focused effort into something else.... and before you know it, your height won't be an issue anymore.

Hello Jene. My name is Christine. I'm 15 years old. I am very self consious about my height. I'm not that tall (5'7-5'7) but I am a very shy person and I hate when people point out how tall and skinny I am(about 107 pounds). I tend to slouch so people don't notice my frame so much. I'd love to one day be comfortable with my height. Is there any advice you could give me.

Christine, Canada

Hi Christine,

Don't let being tall get you down. I was 5'11" when I was your age, it was awkward, I know how you feel.

Being tall is a gift. All your life you will stand out from the crowd. Get used to being tall and stand proud, more opportunities will come your way. You will have an advantage over shorter girls, and while they look up to you, you will be noticed as a leader to the world around you.

Think of your height as your secret weapon in a world of shorties, it will make you smile the next time someone points out how tall and skinny you are. ;-)

Stand Tall, Stand for something good.

All My Best,

Jene'

Christine of Canada responds:

Jene,

Thanks for the encouragement. The thing is, I don't really like when people point out how tall and skinny I am because I'm very shy and it makes me so uncomfortable. People always tell me I should be a model but in a way that sort of insulting because I can do a heck of a lot more than stand around and look pretty. I'm very intelligent but people always see past that and think I should start modeling. I have done a little modeling but nothing really editorial, it just doesn't really interest me. I really don't think it's something I should do with the rest of my life as I am very ambitious. Here are some pics to see for yourself.

Hi Christine,

You don't have to like it, you just have to learn to live with it. Many people have things about themselves they'd rather go unnoticed by others. They learn to live with it.

Learn to use those things as motivation to do more. And stop dwelling on the negative. It may be "insulting" to you, but really it is a compliment.

You are beautiful. You also seem like a smart girl who can and will go a long way in life. Use your smarts, and lose the negativity.

I hope this helps.

All My Best,

Jene'

P.S. Professional models start at 5'11" at 15, you're about 4 inches off the mark... so don't worry about Click Models or Vogue calling you anytime soon. You have have a bright future ahead, smart girl! ;-)
