I Am A Tall Woman Who Love's Miniskirts!

by Tove Cecilie Fasting
(Greece)

To me, mini skirts will always be in fashion. They don't make skirts long enough to cover my long legs! And why should I try to cover them? Like most tall women, I have great legs!:)

I'm 46 years old, and I plan on wearing miniskirts when I'm 80, too - regardless of whether it's comme-il-faux or not. That's one of the advantages of being a tall woman: You've learned not to care about what other people think about your looks. You don't physically fit into the A4 sheet, which means that you even psychologically aren't very conform. You are an independent person with a strong individuality. You were always the one on the side of the crowd, so it was natural for you to create your own road instead of following the pack. And that includes traveling in mini skirts even when the majority think of it as out of fashion, or think of you as too old for that fashion!

In all the pictures from my child hood I'm the one towering a head above all the other kids. When I was twelve I was taller than the teachers (not to mention the boys in my class). When I was seventeen I had grown to the height I have now - 183 cm (6 ft) - played volley ball with great success and discovered that men found me attractive. When I was 25 I worked as a news reporter and discovered that I got to ask all the questions in the press conferences because they could SEE me - while my 160 cm (5' 2") tall colleague drowned in the crowd and got back to the paper with an empty block.

When my short friend gets angry they laugh at her. When I get angry I'm taken seriously.

Since I'm tall, it's automatically expected that I cope. Since I'm tall, it's also for some reason expected that I'm bright (yes, I've read studies showing this is true!). And what happens when everyone expect you to be and look upon you as strong, smart and to cope - well, you yourself see yourself as someone who is strong, smart and copes! That's really a great attitude to have - instead of looking upon yourself as small and helpless! You can conquer the world, girl!

As a consequence, a lot of people are attracted to you. You're supposed to be smart and cope for them, as well. They get terrified if they see you are sad or cry or being helpless (you have your moments!). Then there are the brilliant ones, who are short, but still smart and cope and allow you too to show your softer and weaker side. They can see you cry and they can comfort you. The best of friends!

Men are attracted to tall women. Tall women are automatically taken for models (of course, like all tall women I had models offers in my younger days, but after having tried it out, I found life's too short to spend it as a coat hanger). But funny thing is, there's no expiry date on tall women! Married (to a short, but fabulous guy) for 15 years and mother of two boys, I find it somehow hilarious that men still find me attractive and that despite flashing my wedding ring, they hit on me.

But what can I say - that's the fate of tall women. But we can deal with it!
