Winter is upon us, so let’s open up our closets full of tall women clothes, pull out our coats and jackets, and see just how well they fit our tall women’s bodies.

I don my winter coat, and look! You can still see my wristwatch! Or maybe that’s the fault of these gloves that just barely reach the bottom of my extra long hands. No, gloves aren’t supposed to be that long unless I’m going to the opera, so it must be the coat sleeves that aren’t as long as coat sleeves should be. Ideally there should be no skin showing between the end of the coat sleeve and the bottom of the glove.

Oh sure, we could always remove the gloves to eliminate that little problem, but that would be cheating and besides, we would freeze our fingers off. And we need our fingers to button or zip or snap, or whatever must be done to fasten our coat and/or jacket.

Ah yes, jackets. They’re never long enough either, and I don’t just mean in the sleeves. We tall women have all been complimented on our cute crop tops when we weren’t even wearing crop tops, but why are we the only ones seen in “crop jackets”?

Let’s go shopping at online sites that sell tall women clothes, and see if we can’t find some coats and jackets to fit tall women with long arms and long bodies.

Simply Tall.net has a dozen different coat and jacket styles available for tall women, from plaid pea coats and car coats to denim jackets, and from trench coats to rain jackets, and even reversible jackets so you can go out in a casual plaid or in a solid tweed. Their prices range from as low as $69 for the denim jacket to just under $290 for the reversible jacket—but that can be like two jackets for the price of one.

And for all of you tall women up in Canada, LongLegs.ca has a good selection of coats boasting 27 ½” inch sleeves for those extra long arms. Prices range from $89-275 (Canadian).

Seeing all those references to 27 (and one half) inches got me thinking: Is that the magic number for long sleeves on tall women clothes? I took a tape measure to my own arm, putting the 27 inch mark right below the heel of my hand. The other end of the tape measure curved over my shoulder.

That’s long. I do believe I could wear these coats, and save my extra long gloves for the opera.
